Detailed Description: The purpose of the presentation is to showcase a Game Day lesson format for PE that: * showcases how to combine sport education and teaching games for understanding * fosters student skill, tactical and fitness development * promotes authentic responsibility through cooperation, shared effort, and communication.
Game Day Lessons follow a "Game-Practice-Game" format to maximize engagement and to allow for team and individual development. In this format, learning-teams play small-sided, inclusive and differentiated games designed to help students develop skill and tactical awareness while displaying desired character traits. In addition, students assume leadership roles, such as coaches, officials, score/time keepers, etc. and use resources such as practice plans to guide team practice sessions in preparation for daily games. The combination of Sport Ed and TGFU provides a developmentally appropriate, highly engaging, authentic learning environment where students can experience success in all learning domains!
